Assignment 1: Public Administration within Realm of HIV/AIDS Incurable diseases have slowly lessened as the years of technological and scientific advancement have continued. However, the most-used example of an incurable disease, HIV/AIDS, has yet to yield any cures. HIV/AIDS is a widely known virus that attacks the immune system of its victim. It is taught to many young students all around the world. While HIV/AIDS seems to be a disease most feel they are not exposed to here, in the United States, many parts of the world still suffer with a huge population of infected individuals. Within the case study, Dr. Gayle encounters all three of these factors and uses them to benefit her cause. In the government realm the political factors cannot be escaped. Politics run the government, therefore the influences of politics will bleed into every aspect of government facilities. In the case of the CDC, Dr. Gayle was confronted with many political agendas throughout her career and each time she used them to her advantage. In regard to the political agendas she often faced she would use both parties and come together in order to find common ground and work for the betterment of the communities. In the public health sector there are many decisions that need justification in order to be approved. These approvals can often times be swayed by political parties. Being able to be savvy and properly maneuver around the agendas with politicians. In order to aid these efforts she did not align herself with any particular political group. She remained objective in order to provide the best care for those she
