Password Fail: Are Your Workers Using 123456?
The article showed concerns about how passwords were and will be repeated in years to come. The writer points out how Internet users and Corporations are unaware that not remembering your password could put them at risk of being hacked. Also showing that people are just not as concern for they computer safety.
SplashaData, a company located in California, provides software that is used to audit and provide security training in password management. The company generated an annual list of 25 worst passwords from 3.3 million. Further researched showed that since 2011 the number 123456 has been at the top of the weakest password list and is still being used today.
Creating a secure password is only the first step, companies have to put polices in place to control user behaviors, like no sharing of passwords, keeping up with password changes and making sure the polices that are put forth are read and signed by the user. I t
Many company have provided a security measure on their computers, where as the system will lock out a user if there have been to many failed logon attempts made in the same time frame.
This article did provide an overview of how important, yet fragile, passwords security really is; but it did not give different techniques for creating and maintaining passwords, or possible alternative methods
