One factor can be POVERTY. Any family that is living on a low income might not be able to provide much for their children as they had hoped too. The families living environment may be poor which can have an effect on the mental and physical health of children and their parents. The family may not be able to afford much food, so the children could be going for days without any food and will be starving. If the child is always hungry they may end up with health problems like anorexia. Which means the child could end up in hospital and this means they will be missing out on their education, learning and building friendships with other children or young people in the school. If the child is feeling like this they may just shut down and not socialize with others, may not want to eat or may get the feeling of ' why did their parent not want them'. This will leave the child to blame themselves when in fact their parent may just want the best for their child and they can get the full support and love off someone else during the difficult time. Beliefs and customs – This could affect the dietary needs of children. If a child follows their cultural beliefs and only eats the food that they are allowed to eat, it will affect their lives. If the child goes out with their friends from school and they go to get something to eat, that child may feel isolated or even fear of going out again for something to eat because they are 'different' from their friends beliefs. They also may feel left out because they cant have the same food as their friends. The children may also get bullied because they are wearing different clothing compared to others in their school. The child may feel left out, sad, upset, nervous because they are wearing different clothes to the other children. But these choices may have a positive or a negative affect on their lives. A young person may choice to go to SERC after they finish 5th year instead of going back to 6th year. The negative affect of this situation may be that the young person doesn’t settle in SERC and finds it difficult to settle. The positive effect will be that they prefer SERC and go on with their qualification from SERC and get a full time job. Other young people may decide to smoke and drink whenever they are underage. This may have a serious negative affect on the person as they could end up with health problems. The person could develop lung cancer, have liver failure which could then result in their life span decreasing. Not all children and young people have the same experiences in life. Some may have different experiences that may impact on their development. 1 experience is A CHILDREN LIVING WITH THE SAME GENDER FAMILY. A child may live in a same sex family, this means children are living with either 2 Dads or 2 Mums. This can make the child feel very uncomfortable because they don’t have a dad and mum figure in their life. This experience may result in the child getting bullied in school because they don’t have a mum and dad.The child may feel very isolated and not want to talk or take part in activities including their parents in school .The child may not build friendships with other children, because
