In 1776, after the American Revolutionary war had begun, the leaders of the colonies of America came together to write a letter to king George of England. In this letter, the leaders wanted to say why that wanted to be a free nation and the reason that they were fighting against the British. There were many people that helped in writing this document including John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, and Thomas Jefferson. The letter was like a document.

In the document, it said that sometimes, it becomes necessary to split off from another group who they have connections with to become independent because the laws of Nature and of God say that they can and they should say why they want to separate. We think that these things to be quite simple: all men are created equal, they all have rights given by God that can’t be taken away, and that among these right are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

Whenever any type of government does something with these rights, the people have the right to change or get rid of it and make a new government in a way that will most likely affect their Safety and Happiness. He won't let new settlers come to America, and he won't let the settlers take over new land from the Native Americans.

He won't let us choose our own judges, and instead he chooses them all himself, so they're all on his side. He sends lots of new government officials that we don't want, and he makes us pay for them.

He sends lots of English soldiers here when there isn't even a war, and makes us let
