‘Merica There has been a continuous flow of people from around the world flooding to this great country for many years. Who wouldn’t want to come to a country where freedom and opportunity is just a part of the daily routine? The culture of America has been influenced greatly over the years. The way all these different varieties of ethnic backgrounds have merged together as one is incredible. There isn’t another country in the world that is as unique as the U.S. of A. This crazy melting pot is what makes this country what it is today. One thing that is a very controversial topic but undoubtedly played a major role in influencing our country and its culture is our right to bear arms. It’s hard to find many places in this world where you are granted a privilege like that. We have won many wars with these very guns and held our own for many years. It has really inclined many Americans to think with the mindset of being independent and striving through adversity. A person can be comfortable in their home knowing they can protect themselves and their family. There is not many countries that would seriously consider invading our country because of how many households are just waiting to shoot something. A Japanese General once said, “You cannot invade the mainland United States. There would be a rifle behind every blade of grass” (Colbert). Another topic that greatly attributes to our culture is sports. This country was founded upon great athletes. We have the most overweight people in the world, yet we continue to dominate the Olympics. That goes to show when set a goal we do whatever it takes to accomplish that goal. Leagues like the MLB, NFL, and NBA are incomparable to other countries. Sports events and environments are very prevalent in America. We dominate the sports world and we as fans reflect on that in our daily lives. Almost everyone has their favorite team of some kind and aren’t afraid to express it. The telecasts of championship games are some of the most watched events in the world. It is undeniable that sports play a huge role in our culture today.
The last thing that probably makes us the most unique is the fact that we are such a combination of different people. America has been evolving into international meeting place as some would say. People have come from all over the world to make America their home. The level of opportunity here is unmatched. The great variety has impacted America very positively in many different ways. We have such a blend of food, festivities, and even religion. Anyone could come from across the planet and find somewhere they fit
