The Unnatural Causes video series consists of several videos that discusses the health disparities that affect the American life every day. There is more to our life and future outcomes than how much exercise we receive or what our diet consists of. Our social circumstances can have a great effect on our future by dictating how we live, our time availability, and our financial resources to live. This series gave me a great insight into how intense the health disparities are throughout America. It also taught me that these health disparities can be so severe that they can often result in death. I agree with much of what this video demonstrated. This video showed in depth how several social factors can cause more stress than the human body can handle which results in excess death. It also taught me that having the ability to avoid smoking or eating a healthy diet depends on a person’s economic factors like income, education, and social determinants of health. Another concept that I learned was that college students live on average two and a half years longer than high school graduates because receiving an education offers a way to move up the wealth gradient by having the ability to get a job which results in optimism about the …show more content…
Firstly, and most importantly, we need to look at the underlying cause of the problems discussed previously. Secondly, we need to break the association between income, wealth, and health. Thirdly, we need to produce better education systems, housing support, and access to recreation. Lastly, we need to build hope up throughout our society. By doing this, we can give people the access to resources that have the potential to give them success. When we put in the effort to fix the health disparities that produce extreme amounts of stress then we can reduce the amount of excess
