The quality of the meat which the meat packing industry served shows how Upton Sinclair expressed that business would break rules and cut corners to make more profit. Sinclair also tells the readers that employees safety of health were in danger because business managers wanted more profitt.
“There were men in the pickle rooms, for instance, where poor Antanas had gotten his death.” (Sinclair 101) Even though the conditions which the workers worked in were unsafe they would serve the product from those places which would cause the consumer’s death. But surely the managers knew about this so why would they do it? Sinclair expresses the managers sell this product because the managers care more about making money.
