Settings are the key thing to a story’s plot. The setting is where and when a story takes place so if the setting changes the story changes. When the setting changes the story plot changes entirely. This is the reason the Urban settings affect the characters in the book Seedfolks by Paul Fleischman, and the poem “Incident” by Countee Cullen, and the short story “Thank you, Ma’am” by Langston Hughes.
In the book Seedfolks by Paul Fleischman, urban settings affect the characters. An example is the empty lot where it all started. This Is the place that brought the people together in the first place. Another example is the taxis These affect the characters because of the jobs that people might have or the fact that in a rural town usually there are farms so there would be no point in having a community garden.

In an urban setting people Also no right mind would let an eight year old out by themselves in a rural town. The way that they could be in a rural setting is that they did not mention any outside sounds or objects. These affect the character because of the things that the character can do.
Finally in the short story “Thank you ma’am” by Langston Hughes urban settings affect the characters in a few ways. One of these things include Mrs. Jones living in an apartment, there are not any apartments in a rural setting. You would see regular houses if it were a rural town. Another thing is that jobs don’t usually end at 11 O’clock at night. These are how the setting in the story makes a big difference in how the story goes.
