When it comes to stories and books many of them have one key concept that readers are supposed to take from it. Yet that isn’t what the author of Anthem does instead he presents a variety concepts allowing the reader to choose what concept they want to take from it. Within this book, there are many inspirational quotes for readers to make their own analogy and create their own meaning. For instances take the quote, “[w]e cannot stop now, even though it frightens us that we are alone in our knowledge.”. This quote can be interpreted into peoples lives in a range of ways. Not everyone will come up with the same interpretation since the mind is considerably complex and not every mind will think exactly alike along with that events that are occurring in a reader's life will affect their interpretation. In the story, the “Anthem” knowledge is unwelcomed and deemed as something that makes everyone unequal. From the start of the story, this is demonstrated when the main character and narrator speaks of his childhood and how he was punished for being smarter than his peers. He longed to be like his brothers who were dimwitted and ignorant. Yet this never happened but as he grew older he learned how to hide it. Though he learned to hide it his desire for knowledge grew. This desire lead him to find this light source. A source that he believed to be new he thought that everyone should know of this knowledge, but when he tried to show the council they were infuriated. They feared the knowledge that he found which then lead to them hating him. This hatred leads him to be alone in his knowledge. Which is where this quote comes into places.
