In The Great Gatsby, written by F.Scott Fitzgerald, there are many strategies and devices used to convey Fitzgerald’s purpose. The Great Gatsby is a novel written in the early 1900’s, during the time when work, alcohol and money were hard to come by. During Chapter 3, page 56, of this novel the protagonist named Nick, describes his typical day in New York city and what activities he does when he was not with The Great Gatsby.
