Initially I planned to have students act out the onomatopoetic words in the sample comic strip as I reread it as a formative assessment to check for understanding. I believed this would be a great way to have students up and moving to demonstrate their understanding of onomatopoetic words originally. However, after observing my host teacher formatively check for understanding by having students quickly write down a few action words on a sticky note, I believe I can better assess students on an individual basis if I have them create a quick list of onomatopoeia words.
