There is something about being a college student that changes how you begin to apply yourself. Since my first semester at UTD, I have noticed that I have been able to gradually increase my coursework, responsibilities, and investment in the campus as I have been exposed to more and more UTD resources and opportunities. Knowing that this university has taken the necessary steps to invest in both my academic and my professional career has influenced my development and progress as both a student and an individual. I will justify through my past achievements and my goals why I believe that further investment in my studies at UTD is warranted in order to allow me to continue my education.
My academic career at UTD has demonstrated that I am a student who is willing to commit herself to her studies, work hard, and take advantage of on campus resources. For instance, I have received encouragement to expand my career search as well as my skills and this has driven me to attend career expositions. At one of these events I received information about the Government Accountability Office, which caught my attention as a professional goal. This in turn has directed my decision to take advantage of the UTD fast track program to work on receiving my masters as well as seek internships that can give me a better understanding of the career fields that interest me. Accordingly, this has led me to a an internship position as an Intelligence Analysis intern at Emergent Risk International (ERI), an advisory firm that focuses on determining what possible risks a company’s business model may face
