Quarter Two Book Report In the book Vanishing Girls Nick and her sister Dara were in a car accident that led to Dara’s death. Nick now struggles with PTSD and frequently has hallucinations that Dara is still alive. The book begins by giving insight of what happened before the accident, Dara was the younger of the two sisters and definitely the more rebellious. Nick was older and known as the good child, always doing what she was told. After Dara’s death Nick finds herself struggling with grief and recurrent trauma disorder. She is also admitted into therapy and rehab while she improves her condition.

The first article I chose was Is It Real, or Is It Hallucination? (Worth Kilcrease) This article relates to Nick because after Dara’s death she begins to hallucinate that Dara is still alive. The article also states that hallucinations or having an overactive imagination are normal in the process of mourning a death. “Post-traumatic stress syndrome is considered to be caused by a major traumatic event which is too painful to deal with. Post-traumatic stress disorder is the only anxiety disorder that is defined as being caused by a traumatic life event.” (Grief Healing Support) Nick was a very stable and happy girl before the accident but after her sister died she began to think it was her fault. Nick struggles with PTSD and RTD and is admitted into therapy. When she was let out of therapy she began to resume her normal life but often had flashbacks to the accident. Nick would like this article because it explains what she is dealing with and how to fix it. I think she would find this article very helpful and true. Nick would also have opinions about how the article made PTSD sound. She would think it made it sound like no big deal, but in reality it can lead to horrible things such as
