“ Why I appreciate America’s Veterans”

“ People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.” This quote, one said by George Orwell, can be interpreted in a way that he’s trying to express the importance of the military, and without them their lives may be different then from how they are now. Americans honor our veterans because without them life may be different, they risked their life for the fellow citizens of the nation to keep them safe and free. They deserve the appreciation for their loyalty, devotion and sacrifice for the nation. Veterans and present day military personnel deserve the respect and recognition for their service not only for the country, but the people that live there too, Veterans day, which is annually held on November 11th of each year is a great way to honor the veterans across the country. Both present and past military personnel should be respected and honored for their service. On November 11th, 2014 veterans from across the nation will be celebrated for their service for their country. People and towns from across the nation celebrate those who have been in the armed forces with parades and other ways to celebrate them. When a military person is killed they receive a special funeral, it includes a United States flag to hang over the casket with the blue field covering the left shoulder and the heart of te deceased. This tradition began during the late 18th century through the early 19th century in the Napoleonic war. Also for some who served in the military, they can qualify for a program that excludes one from having to make a down payment on a home. The military will also pay for your school if you serve time. Being in the military has its benefits, For both the military people and their families, there are sacrifices that comes with being in the military. For the families, some may have to relocate often and not seeing their loved ones that are serving. Also if anything happened to them while serving, they would have to cope with any injuries that may occur
