From the age of four when I got my first pet I have had a strong passion for animals and their wellbeing and a desire to pursue a career in Veterinary Science. Whether I was taking care of my dog and goldfish or helping out on my parent’s friend’s farm, I have always been surrounFrom an early age I have been passionate about animals. Primarily resulting from raising my first pet. Consequently Ihave developed a desire to pursue a career in Veterinary science. Whether I was taking care of my dog and goldfish or helping out on my parent’s friend’s farm, I have always been surrounded by animals. However, it was not until my dog hurt his paw that I realized the valuable effect that veterinarians have on the lives of both animals and people. The vet’s care and sensitivity inspired me to follow a career path that would enable me to help the lives of not only animals, but also the people who love them.

I specifically found dissections and the anatomical theory behind them to be extremely interesting and insightful. Whilst at school, from an early age I have held several roles of responsibility. In years 3 and 5 I was school representative and in my later years I was captain of both the netball and soccer teams. Alongside this I have taken part in numerous fundraising activities as part of the IB program and through school. These include serving food to the homeless at the Mary Magdalene Centre and volunteering at the Farmer’s Market. I have also participated in numerous co-curricular activities which have provided me with skills in areas such as problem solving, public speaking, team work and social interaction.
