Mary Shelley, the author of Frankenstein, shows us the abnormal and frightening thoughts of Victor Frankenstein. It is unusual for a teenager to search for decomposed body parts, however it is even more baffling how he brings them back to his own home and tries to create a human being from the dead. Victor is not a normal human being, it has gotten to the point where he is acting crazy. He began with these afflictions that began to taunt him almost as if someone was torturing him. It was clear that his indisposition he had was because of the monster he had created. Victor is diagnosed with bipolar one disorder. He spent days just reminiscing as to how it would look like. When he said , “For this I have deprived myself of rest and health’’(42) shows how determined he was on making this dream of his become a reality even if it meant not getting the correct amount of sleep. He was not going let negativity from his professor let him down. This was the beginning of what was his disorder he was acquiring. According to WebMD one if the symptoms is increased energy, with hyperactivity and a decreased need for sleep. Once the monster was created Victor not only felt excitement towards his accomplishment but hate on how ugly he made him. When he said, “I was unable to remain for a single instant in the same place; I jumped over the chairs, clapped my hands, and laughed aloud(46) describes his unexplainable urge of accomplishment he received when it became alive. According to bipolar lives, they stated that you have random periods of depression every once in awhile which was exactly what Victor was having during the monster was alive.
In conclusion, with all the information gathered it is obvious that victor isn't a normal human. It was pretty straightforward to see the disorder he has. I believe he was too stressed on trying to bring someone back from the dead it made him lose sleep, lose focus and that's what I think caused him to get bipolar one
