In Gerard Jones’ “Violent Media is Good for Kids”, Jones argues that allowing children to interact with violent media such as video games and movies are good for children. He goes on to explain that as he was a child, he found himself escaping into a world where he was like the Hulk. Jones explains that reading the violent comics allowed him to find himself and grow into the man he is now. He further explains various cases where exposing children to violent media turned out to be a good thing. In the beginning of his argument, I was not entirely sure of whether or not to be for or against his points. Many parents would not agree with Jones and his argument. He states “...children engage the rage they’ve stifled, come to fear it less, and become more capable of utilizing it against life's challenges.” (Jones ADD PAGE NUMBER). I have to agree with Jones and the sentence previously states. I too believe that if you allow children to engage in their “rage” in safe and controlled environments, that they will be able to face true rage, and feelings relating to it, in the future. In life, it is good to be able to express feelings in a healthy way that other wise would cause harm. Even though many parents would feel that allowing their children to be exposed to violent media would create more harm than good, many other people have been able to successfully prove them wrong. As Jones stated over and over again, allowing them to be exposed to it allows children to grow and gain control of those feelings. If more parents saw things from Jones’ point of view, I believe that there would not be much debate on this anymore as it has been proven
