When I was a little girl, I was faced with an opportunity that I did not know would be so life-changing. When I was first presented with this opportunity, I wanted to refuse because it seemed so tedious. As a kid, I thought I had better ways to use my time. However, I decided to do it, and soon realized that this was a spectacular choice; this time turned out to be one of the finest times in my life. The opportunity that I was faced with was to volunteer at a dog boarding facility/rescue. I had the chance to work at the business because my mother thought I needed something to do for the summer. Because she owns a rescue, my mom knew Michelle and she thought it would be good for me to volunteer at Michelle's facility. I volunteered there almost every day during the summer of 2012. Some days, I got there when the place opened, and stayed until closing time. Other days, I got there around 10:00AM-12:00PM and stayed until it closed(around 6pm). The facility …show more content…
Michelle was the owner. She did not start the business to make money(she normally ended up losing), but to save dogs. She took in every dog that people brought to her, even if she did not have much money. Sarah was an employee, and Michelle's best friend. She was very hard-working and an amazing leader. She always took charge in the back to make sure everything was done by the end of the day. Karin was also an employee. She was nice, quiet, hard-working, and organized. She always made schedules and charts to keep everyone on track. When I was there, I helped out as much as I could. I spent most of my time in the back, because it was where I was needed the most. This was where I cleaned runs and pens, fed the dogs, walked them, switched them out, and much more. On occasion, I would be called to help in the grooming room.
