Voluptuary Under The Horrors

In James Gillray’s illustration of “Voluptuary under the horrors”, we can see the Prince of Wales sitting in a chair after what seems to be a good meal. He is just about to be a king! This might of raised a few eyebrows. Will he be a good one? In my opinion, I think the Prince of Whales is not suited to be a king.

First of all, he is not good with money. As a rule, a great king knows how to use his money wisely. But not the Prince of Wales. There are plenty of bills found on the table and floor that are left unpaid. He even has a book that reads “Honor of Debt Unpaid”. Also if you look outside, the town buildings look incomplete and if it happens to be in progress, there are no construction materials found. There is a great chance they didn't have enough money to complete it. The money was most likely used for the prince’s food habits and needs.This only makes him a bad king. So, he is not good with money as he has unfinished bills and buildings.

Secondly, the Prince is not very moral. As a rule, one who is moral knows his consequences and what is bad for others and oneself. As shown in the picture, there is vegetable oil and that too

As a rule, a hard working person cares for his subjects and has everything organized, especially important documents. He focuses on his job, and his job only. On the contrast, he seems to have many deep sensual pleasures. He loves to eat. He is so fat that his clothes don’t correctly fit him. His table is full of partially eaten food, and even has a pot of vomit for the sole purpose to eat more. And as said before, he has a love for drinking. He also seems to like gambling, which is a “lucky” quick way of earning things. He also seems very lazy because his room isn't neat.There are items on the ground such as cups and dice, and many things left unattended. He does not keep important things carefully well such as bills. So, in all he is not very hard
