A vulnerable adult is an adult who is unable, by reason of detention, sickness, age, mental impairment, or any other causes, to withdraw themselves from the care/ charge of another person (Crimes Act, 1961). This means that the patient in this scenario is considered to be a vulnerable adult. The provider will measure all aspects, previous treatments and conditions which leads the provider to conclude that this patient living conditions are not likely to improve in the future as he states. In addition, for the safety of the patient, the provider also consider the living conditions of the patient are not suitable for his age and he is therefore is not able to mobile easily around the house, but rather, it is difficult and has higher risk and chance of causing or sustaining …show more content…
That is due to the patient not taking his medication to stabilise his other medical conditions (Health Information Privacy Code, 1994). This could furthermore cause the patients health to deteriorate. According to Rosemary Topin (Health care and Privacy law, 2010) the health provider should disclose the patients health information to the manager if there is an appropriate reason . In this case, it would be appropriate as it meets the Health information Privacy Rule 11, allowing the provider to disclose the information to the right person. Furthermore, this patient is also vulnerable to the Crimes Act (1961) section 151 a and b. This Act will take place for this patient as it states that the person who is in charge of the care to a vulnerable adult who is unable to provide for himself must; provide the necessaries to the vulnerable person, and to take steps to protect that vulnerable adult from sustaining an injury (Crimes Act, 1961). In addition to to Crimes Act, section 195 can also be used due to the vulnerable adult/ patient is being neglected by his daughter/ care
