In the documentary “Waiting for Superman” The film follows five children on their journey to win the lottery and gain a place at a charter school. The students and their parents (or, in one case, grandmother) tell, sometimes tearfully, of their fear of being left out and forced to attend the failing public school in their area. The movie culminates with an emotional, tense scene during which the lottery numbers are called as students and families await their educational fate.Consistently in America, more than 1.2 million students drop out of high school.This exposes the country's education system and devastates open doors for the students who plan to flourish in their future and aim for a sizable salary. Roughly 25% of students drop out of school at an early age, due to financial struggles. Many students acquire a job while going to school to either support themselves or their family. Unfortunately, many parents get laid off or fired causing them not to be able to support their kid financially. Which ends up causing the student not to get the best education they can get. In “Waiting for Superman” Bianca, a kindergartener in Harlem. Her mother works multiple jobs to place her in a parochial school. Her mother says that she will do whatever she can to ensure that "Bianca goes to school since that implies that she will have a profession rather than a simple job". This scene is extremely insightful and focuses on an ongoing controversy of teacher unions and how they are affecting urban students’ education.Since teachers have tenure they start lacking when it comes to giving minority students a proper education at school.Purposely because they wouldn’t get fired at all due to the fact that tenure protects teacher unions. This impacts students greatly because without a proper education/class they’ll be far behind. In their academics and start to lose hope and just give in causing them to drop out and become another statistic for America.But this all could end if schools removed tenure and monitor teachers once in a while and study test score coming out of every
