As one walks through a swamp, they can start to feel like their journey will never end and feel hopeless, while also feeling a sense of everything. Mary Oliver describes how she specifically feels about walking through a swamp and how closely related it is to the cosmos. The diction used in this poem is very descriptive by adding an adjective to almost every noun, but they all tie together in a way. She describes how a swamp is pathless, seamless and has peerless mud, while The cosmos are one in the same. The physical attributes may not be exactly the same, for example: the cosmos does not have mud or trees in it and the swamps do not have stars in them, but the basic outline and struggles are the same. The cosmos have everything that has
