In the two stories Walk two moons by Sharon Creech and “The Guest” retold by Uma Krishnaswami the two stories share a similar theme Don't judge a person by their appearance. The authors of both stories use characterization to develop the themes.
In the story Walk 2 moons the theme is developed by the characters’ thoughts. I know this because in the story Phoebe judges Margaret Cadaver by her past and name. “...Her name means dead body Sal.” In the story this is Phoebe’s thoughts and words not her actions. Another piece of evidence is Phoebe thinks it is weird that she is single and her name is Ms.Cadaver. “ I think she killed and chopped up her husband and he is buried under that Rhododendron”. Phoebe thinks she killed her husband.
