“The mission of The Walt Disney Company is to be one of the world’s leading producers and providers of entertainment and information. Using out portfolio of brands to differentiate our content, services and consumer products, we seek to develop the most creative, innovative and profitable entertainment experiences and related products in the world.” (4)

I chose to evaluate Disney’s website after reading their mission statement, which they include on their website. I thought they’d be an interesting company to study because of how enormously successful they are.

I think most people can agree that this strategy has been executed successfully; their site includes specifics on what they do in a range of areas covering Asia Pacific, Japan, Europe, Middle East, and Africa (3). The page also discusses their global strategy as a whole, stating “With operations in more than 40 countries, our employees and cast members work together to create entertainment experiences that are both universally and locally cherished” (3). One thing Disney has definitely been incredibly successful with is expansion; they were not wrong when writing this mission statement saying they’d be one of the leaders in the world in entertainment. I think the key to their expansion is in part due to the fact that they do focus on differentiating what they produce, therefore drawing in bigger and more various audiences. Having a global presence gives them another edge because parts of their business that are located around the world are more catered to the people in the area, so they must put a lot of effort into being culturally aware and tweaking their creative process to appeal to people in each area specifically, while still not losing their mission as a
