Krystof Penderecki, “Threnody to the Victims of Hiroshima”, originally was not titled this because it was not written to depict the bombing of Japan. After it was written the title was changed because the song represented the story of Hiroshima.
When listening to this piece of music for the first time I had it playing in the background when I was doing laundry. Then the next day I listened to parts of it in class and realized I missed key parts of the song from the first time I listened to it. Finally, after class I listened to this piece in silence focusing on the song this time. When I focused on the song I noticed for the first time that this piece is telling a story even though there are no words telling a specific story.
