Alexander The Cruel
Alexander WAS a great leader. However, he wasn’t a great person. Time and time again, Alexander proved to be a cruel person, friend, and leader, to everybody. He was bad for his people, greedy, and cruel. He was a great battle strategist, and the leader of the largest empire in it’s time. Most of the land he conquered didn’t come willingly.
When Alexander’s dad, Philip II died in 336 B.c, many people believed Alexander wasn’t strong enough to take the throne. A Greek city states named Thebes. Revenge was swift, and Thebes was destroyed. The Historian Named Plutarch said, “When he came to Thebes, the city was sacked and razed.” His intent was to scare the other areas into obedience.
