Was Hiroshima Bombing Justified

The bombing of Hiroshima caused thousands of people to lose their lives to disintegration and radiation. In 1945 the Americans dropped two atomic bombs on Japan to end World War 2. The two locations were Hiroshima and Nagasaki. After both of the bombs the Japanese surrendered due to mass suffering. Now one of the big arguments in history has sprung from that. Was the bombing of Hiroshima justified?

There are only two answers to the question, yes and no. The people who believe it’s justified think this because it was revenge for Pearl Harbor, the Japanese would never surrender, it ended the war while saving lives, and it impressed the Soviets. Pearl Harbor was an attack on Hawaii from the Japanese to get the country involved in the war. It worked, and killed 2,402 people in the process.

People think the bomb wasn’t justified because it led to many deaths, it was inhumane, it was too strong of a bomb, and it let the rest of the world accessible to nuclear weapons. Approximately 150,000 people died instantly from the bombs, and 112,020 died from the complications of the bomb. These were human lives that the Americans destroyed, and they ruined the lives of many others affected by the bombs. The scientists that created the bomb even believed it was too powerful, saying that “The development of atomic power will provide nations with new means of destruction.”(A Petition to the President of the United States, 1) The scientists also said “[The bomb] may affect the welfare of the nation in the near future.” (A Petition to the President of the United States, 1) Many different countries were in a race to get the nuclear formula before any other country. When the Americans released the bomb the other countries sent in people to get the codes. The spies succeeded, starting the Cold War. Many people believe that it would have been better to have kept them a secret while still developing
