In the documentary Wasteland perspective is shifted quite often. A majority of the people in this film are people known as pickers. Pickers work all day sifting through the unwanted materials of everyone around them. Vic is an artist who strives to alter some people's outlooks on what they throw away. Vic takes an interesting approach in achieving his goal by making art out of the garbage that flows through the streets. Tiao was a young man who aspired to change his world with what he had. He had a loving family and his association, but nothing could have prepared Tiao for what Vic showed him. Tiao’s perspective changed from Lowly trash collector who cannot change much to an important member in the group that would change the Wasteland.

Tiao in this scene now understands that his livelihood can be so much more than just trash and hopelessly trying to make life better for the pickers.. The scene shows Tiao going to the auction that plans on auctioning off the artwork he was in. Once at the auction Tiao realizes how much money these ideas are worth to other people not just himself. (Walker 20:30) Living in the garbage all his life was something that Tiao thought he couldn't pull away from, but now he and many other pickers were helping their hometown in a revolutionary way.
