The article “report confirms climate change is happening, and we are to blame” outlines that climate change is a concern, and it is our own fault. There are three major causes to climate change that are discussed in this article such as greenhouse gases, emissions from the burning of fossil fuels, and the worlds food consumption habit; in result this causes the sea level to rise. The leading cause is believed to be greenhouse gases, the theory is that the atmosphere has consumed so much greenhouse gas that amount of carbon, methane, and nitrous oxide have been pushed to unprecedented levels not known in the past 800,000 years. The ocean has absorbed almost 30 percent of emitted carbon dioxide, contributing to the acidification and warming of the ocean. Basically this means we are pouring heat and poison into our oceans and air, but without due consideration for the consequences. There has been a report completed by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United States explaining that current production levels of meat contribute 36 billion tons of “CO2-equivsalnet” greenhouse gases the world produces throughout one year. To make a change we are placing more emphasis on renewable energy, but even if the entire world population was to drastically cut its emission, most effects will still last for hundreds of years.
This article relates to the unit of study involving climate change by corresponding with the expectation of (D2.1) by using correct terms relating to climate change such as: atmosphere, climate change, greenhouse effect, greenhouse gas, global warning, IPCC, temperatures, weather, etc.
The article also relates to the unit of study involving climate change by corresponding with the expectation of (D3.8). It corresponds with this expectation by assessing how he article identifies and describes indicators of global climate change, which in this case is related to changes in sea levels. It accesses this expectation with specific detail such as how the sea level rise is one of the most concerned topics that shows climate change is laying waste to our planet. Over the last two decades, the polar ice caps have been losing significant mass, and the glaciers have continued to shrink at an alarming rate.
The article also relates to the unit of study involving climate change by corresponding with the expectation of (D1.1). It corresponds with this expectation by assessing how the understanding of human activity can possibly increase potential effects on climate change.
While reading this article I learned a variety of facts and information that I was oblivious to before. For example producing half a pound of hamburger patty of meat the size of two decks of cards releases as much greenhouse gases into the atmosphere as driving a 3,000 pound car as far as10 miles. Also that current production levels of meat contribute 36 million tons of “CO2-equivialnet greenhouse gases the world produces every year, also that there isn’t much we can do expect to completely undo what we have been doing in the last century. Even our food consumption habits must radically change. Another piece
