I am so grateful to be sharing my story with you, as this wouldn’t have been possible just two short years ago. At that time I was bedridden and battling Lyme disease, a debilitating disease that took away my livelihood. But let’s rewind back to what my life looked like before I got sick. After graduating from SUNY Geneseo with a bachelors of science in Business Administration, I really didn’t know what I wanted to do or where I wanted to work. I was caring for my Grandmother as well as working at Wegmans. At that time I had been working for Wegmans for almost 10 years and with it being such a great place to work it was a no brainer for me to pursue a career with them. Soon after making that decision I was promoted to an assistant front end manager as well as the night manager of the store. I was trained in all departments and had an excellent understanding of how the store operations worked. Wegmans’ core values naturally matched up with mine; make a difference, empower people, respect and care for others, and uphold high standards. It was the perfect fit, though something was missing. My interest in the human body and passion for health and wellness grew. I was determined to recover and had such clarity that I was meant to be helping others by caring for them. So that’s what I did! I began caring for two older women in their homes and absolutely loved it. I felt so fulfilled during this time. By obtaining my bachelors degree in Nursing from St. John Fisher I know I will have the best education and hands on learning that can be offered to me. My plan is to continue caring for those that need it. I believe that having the perspective of a patient gives me a unique outlook and ability to emphasize with others. By being accepted into the school of nursing at St. John Fisher it would fulfill my passion to care and also allow me to begin a career that recognizes my core
