"Weight Watchers is Targeting Teens with Their Game" was an article posted on February 22, 2018, in which author, Kari Anderson, expressed concerns of the severe implications of exposing young teens to a program designed to help women lose weight. Within these complications, Anderson entails on the addictive nature that could eventually dictate a teens life with counting every calorie or "point" she consumes on a daily basis. Although she poses several great points, such as the possibility of developing an eating disorder or the discouragement of weigh-ins, she fails to showcase the fundamental pros that Weight Watchers is venturing to set in stone for teens. In "The Safe Space", the author of the article describes the requirements teens will need to join the Weight Watchers program. In attempt to secure the mentally stability of a teen and solidifying that the teen has a healthy motivation behind starting their program, Weight Watchers rules and regulations is as follows: "teens must not only get a signature of approval from their parents/legal guardians, but also get a doctors referral that details the individual's weight loss range; The teen cannot be pregnant or be suffering from a chronic illness or taking a long-term medication". The author also emphasizes that "Weight watchers is about adopting a lifestyle and not just dieting". Its main goal is not for teens to succumb to starving themselves in order to become extremely thin, or cause teens to be self-conscious about the body they currently have.
