I have always felt that all are welcome and accepting in our church. Our parish is a diverse and has many different families and cultures. Galatians 3:28 says “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” One of the reasons I feel so connected to the youth group at church is because everyone is so welcoming and accepting. Since I joined the high school youth group I was always welcome with open arms. Nobody is judgemental there. We are all understanding and willing to help one another no matter what. Due to school schedules and extracurricular activities during my high school years at times it was difficult to attend faith formation. When I was able to come I always felt welcome and connected. Also at Mass that connectedness was strengthened. One of my favorite memories of youth group probably has to be the times when we sang Hold Us Together. It was always been one of my favorite songs because the song represents the meaning of love. Honestly in today's society love is a much-needed cohesin force.“Love will hold us together, make us a shelter, to weather the storm,” the lyrics read. “And I’ll be my brothers keeper, so the whole world will know, that we’re not alone.” The words capture the songwriter Matt Mathers hope to find good in any situation and to spread love. Personally this song gives a feeling of belongingness and hope. With simplicity our youth group has been a steadfast part of deepening my faith. The middle school retreat, the mission trips developed bonds which will not be forgotten. Some of my favorite memories are just as simple as songtime or decorating for the middle school
