Jessica Carlisle the main character in the book Running Dream written by Wendelin Van Draanen.She Loses her leg in a fatal bus accident.Jessica is a league runner for her high school,and now she has no hope of getting her leg back.She does get her artificial leg,but yet still she can not run now Jessica has some hope of being able to run again.When her track coach showed her videos of world runners with artificial legs.She has changed from a hopeless girl to a well accomplished runner.And she realizes that the only thing that can hold her back from running is herself.
