In Wendell Berries essay “the love of farming” he is showing us his love for farming and how much it means to him and the world. He tells us the effects that will happen if we don’t begin working harder or as he puts it “getting our hands dirty”. Berry also talks about all the effects that can happen if we do not keep up with farming. He talks about how we are turning to industrial farming only and how that is hurting not only the united states but the world. We farm so that we can get all kinds of food not just for us but to trade all over the world. This is one reason why Berry is so in love and for farming. Farming is done for many people and it’s not easy work that you can just slack off and do. It takes a lot of challenging work and dedication. As Berry says at the end of page 37 “we will have to recognize the love of farming, not as a quaint souvenir of an outdated past, but as an economic necessity”. Berry uses a notable example about Japan and how so many Japanese people are still farming in fact its 9% of people are still farming in japan to our 1%.
