When the United States imprisoned 120,000 Japanese Americans during World War II, they very cruelly ostracized a certain race, because of what their fellow countrymen did, not what they did. The following statements are here to prove that the Japanese Americans did nothing wrong to deserve their brutal internment, and the only ones who should be looked down upon at that point in time is the US Government as a whole.The imprisonment of Japanese it self was harsh and unjustified, but it only made matters worse when the Japanese had to go to camps where living conditions were no better than Jewish concentration camps, and to add, guarding these helpless prisoners were military issue guards.Amache a Colorado concentration camp was described as …show more content…
The Japanese were held in assembly enters which were originally made for animals. In fact the internees even stayed in animal stables and stalls which were recently comprised of livestock, so the stench of manure was still very prevalent. These innocent people were literally being treated like animals, because the quality of life in these internment camps was so low. Many people try to downplay the harshness of Japanese internment camps but the fact is Jewish prisoners in Germany were being treated the exact same. The Japanese were even put to death if they tried to run or speak up. If the segregation of Japanese Americans wasn’t enough, brutal racial stereotypes were made about them. US citizens who were not Japanese even felt the wrath of this, if you were an Asian American you were automatically deemed Japanese. Their was a reporter in Washington named Joseph Chiang, he was getting so much hate and prejudice against him he had to go as far as to put a badge o himself that read “Chinese reporter, NOT Japanese.” This shows how brutal Americans were at this
