The excellence of choreography in Jim Helsinger's production of West Side Story contributed to its overall success as a production. In Helsinger's production, the choreography is done by Anthony Raimondi. Many moments of the play did not involve any speaking. For example, the first season is all music and dancing as it introduces the Sharks and the Jets. Throughout the scene, the rival gangs chase each other around and attack one another. In this scene, I was able, through the paralinguistic tactics of sound and motions, to get an understanding of what the Jets and the Sharks do to one another.
