I was first exposed to WesternU in high school when I heard a friend of mine, Yen, was attending the optometry program. I did my own research and finally went to the information session. One thing WesternU emphasized that really attracted me was the goal of helping students achieve their goals. During preview day, the director mentioned that WesternU was not here to prevent students from becoming nurses, but here to give students all the resources needed to become a nurse. I had a long debate if WesternU would be the right school for me and because of preview day, it solidified my answer. I anticipate following fellow nursing alumni students such as Raisa Vega and dedicate my life to patients. While listening to the video, Raisa was someone who looked for similar aspects, like me, for the right school. She went to the information session and it was home for her, just like it was for me. The idea that individuality is so important at WesternU is one of the reasons diversity exist in the nursing field. Rather than looking at a whole group of patients, individual interpersonal care is more important to me. My view on patients is to look at each patient individually to provide the care they deserve. All patients are different and as individuals, we can all bring something to the nursing field that we will be able to learn from each other. To have WesternU focus on the individual as well as group needs to succeed and really prepare for nursing is something I will be able to take away with me and apply it to patient care. WesternU is not here to draw a line between the weak and the strong, but to work at student’s level to succeed. I want a school that would provide resources for me because of how hard they will see I work toward my passion and not be given to me because of how
