November 2, 1987 there was a call made that there was a child that was not breathing. Police arrive at 14 west 10th street in Manhattan at 6:40am. They knocked on the door, a woman answers, when police ask if she had been the one to make the call she says “yes”. As police investigate the apartment a man comes walking out holding a little girl by the armpits Police saw bruises on the girl's back, and she was filthy and unconscious. The man holding the girl claims she had eaten something and vomited and had no idea why she was incapacitated. He said to police that she had been vomiting since the night before. As police investigated further there had seemed to be an infant in the corner of the room. It appeared lying on the floor and tied to a playpen by a rope. His clothes were soaked with urine and his body was covered with dirt. The woman who had answered the door was badly bruised she had cuts around her eyes and nose and her lip was split. She claimed that all of which was the result of a fall. But just doors away for the little girl the prognosis was bleak. She had lacerations on both of her arms, legs, abdomen, stomach, head, and her feet were covered with dirt. Lisa's hair was a matted and disgusting and appeared to not have been washed in a long time. Doctors discovered a fresh bruise on her forehead. When they turned Lisa over they found one large, unusual bruise near the center of her lower back. Her upper back was covered with bruises. Both calves had yellowish-brown marks, from previous injuries. She had bruising marks on her buttocks as well.
