1. What is Ergonomics?
Ergonomics is the scientific discipline concerned with the understanding of the interactions among humans and other elements of a system, and the profession that applies theoretical principles, data and methods to design in order to optimize human well being and overall system performance.

2. Who is responsible for making the workplace “safe”?
Both employers and employees have particular responsibilities for looking after safety and health in the workplace. This is known as duty of care. You need to be familiar with those responsibilities as outlined in your state government’s occupational safety and health.

3. Explain the principle of duty of care.
A duty of care is a duty to take reasonable care to avoid acts or omissions which you can reasonably foresee would be likely to injure person who are so closely and directly affected by your act or omission that you ought reasonably to have them in contemplation, as being so affected when directly your mind to the act or omission in the question.

4. What general duty is imposed upon the employer in relation to the safety of employees?
The employer should set up the relative equipments to protect the employees from the harm of accidents, and employers should guarantee the safety of machinery to make the employees work in a safety environment. In addition, employers could apply for OHS system to improve the employee’s awareness of this issue.
