Malcolm X was born on May 19, 1925 in Lansing Michigan. He grew up in extreme hardship and poverty. Malcolm’s father was a preacher and follower of Marcus Garvey. Malcolm’s father died a violent death, he was tied down to train tracks by white sirpremeses Malcolm’s mother was left on her own to raise eight children. She had a mental breakdown due to the stress. Malcolm was later separated from his siblings and put into foster care and was in and out of detention homes. He was adopted by a white family named The Swellings, he was treated decent while he was with them. Malcolm’s approach to it was that blacks should just focus on creating and developing their own business. In document 6 Malcolm says “The philosophy of Black Nationalism puts the burden upon the black man of learning how to control his own economy”. What he's saying is African Americans should focus on our own businesses. While Martin Luther King felt we should just try to work with the whites who won’t cooperate with us. Malcolm was the best choice because he wanted us to go on our own route. He wanted us to build up our own community instead of trying to fix one that's long gone. Martin's approach wasn't bad but it wasn't the best choice for this kind of situation. Malcolm says “Working separately, the sincere white people and sincere black people will actually be working together”. He wants all blacks and all whites to work in separate working environments. In Martin’s I Have a Dream Speech he says “With this faith we will be able to work together”. He’s saying one day all people of any race will be able to work together. Malcolms and Martin's approach are both great. Some parts are better than Malcolms and some are better than Martin’s. But using both of their philosophies together they could've found something that would've everyone happy.

It's easy to say that their is no one side better than the other completely, they both have such great examples and solutions that you would have to use both of them. Like Martin’s take on education he gave some really great points but Malcolm's take business out ran Martin’s take on it. So as you can see they have different solutions but they work great together.
