My Responsibility to America The topic of responsibility is such a large issue today, especially with the younger generations. The idea of responsibility is often a negative one and most people avoid it at all cost. Winston Churchill said “The price of greatness is responsibility”. This states the problem with the mindset of the world today. We expect greatness to occur but, we are too lazy and unwilling to do it ourselves. With this type of thinking we, as a nation, will remain stagnant and unable improve the wellbeing of this world. Every American citizen should be active in the pursuit to make America a greater nation.

America was founded on responsibility. The obligation of the pilgrims was to build a strong basis to start a new country built on biblical truths, the responsibility of patriots to sever themselves from the rule of the king. And the duty of our founding fathers to create a new, just system of leadership and laws. Every generation has similar yet always different responsibilities to America. “As young Americans, you have an important responsibility, which is to become good citizens”, President George W. Bush. It is my job to question ,as a seventeen year old student, what my obligation to America is. I believe my responsibilities consist of service to the nation, loyalty, and to be a good, moral citizen.
