The Inequality of Genders
Topics on gender have always been a touchy subject for some people. Some people don’t face the fact that the world is full of imperfections and judgment. People of one gender have expectations to live up to and so does the other gender which both of those expectations are different. People struggle to live up to those expectations all the time and are shamed by some because of it.
Gender stereotypes have always hit children to realize humanity and their expectations they have of them. Stereotypes are what the majority or the past has done to set an automatic assumption for a specific type of person. For this, parents and society set expectations for their kids to have, and if the kid is unable to make that expectation, the parents may be shamed by society which causes the parents to be shameful of their children. Boys have to be smart and girls have to be beautiful; and if you’re not, you aren’t “special”.

Such as in To Kill A Mockingbird, Scout was nonconforming to how most girls her age dressed and acted, so she got scolded that instead of wearing overalls, she “should be in a dress and camisole” (#6). Her aunt was constantly nagging her about her clothes and the way Scout acted. As for Jem, Scout's brother, he felt pressured into society’s ways and so to fit in, “Jem was football crazy” (#6). I can relate to Scout because I was as well nonconforming to what people had expected of me. I got a lot of scolding too, but I did not change because it did not affect me and I kept being who I was which made me happy with myself and turned out who I am
