What Is The Mamaw In Hillbilly Elegy

In the book Hillbilly Elegy, the author J.D Vance had to adapt to the something outside of his comfort zone. According to his community, he would just be another guy to get a girl pregnant at a young age and leave her or get married and have a dysfunctional family where there will be fighting every day, but he chose better. He chose to adapt to a new and better way of living, and he did this with the help of his grandparents. Just like J.D, I had to adapt to a new society and know that nothing was going to hold me back from being successful. Despite this belief, Just like J.D’s mother there were a lot of opposing aspects to hold me back or take me in a different direction, but I had my own “mamaw” to help me set foot in the correct path. Sometimes there would be many negative circumstances that’d take my attention and I’d flow towards them and I’d consider those to be my set of failures, but I always found my way out with the help of the “mamaw” in my world and me thinking about who I will be in the future if I just follow the bandwagon everyone is on.
