Cheerleading without a doubt falls under every aspect of a sport. When some people hear the word cheerleading in today's world most think that it's not a sport because of the history behind it, but cheerleading today is much different than it was years ago. Cheerleading involves flying stunts and tosses, powerful tumbling and dance skills. It requires a lot of training and a good amount of time to perfect these skills. No one can deny that cheerleading involves a great amount of capabilities, skill, flexibility, hard work, and most of all the athleticism but can it be described as a sport is the real question. Cheerleading is a sport because it is physically demanding, requires teamwork, and involves competition just like every other sport out their. "A sport, according to the Association of Cheerleading Coaches and Advisors, is a “physical activity [competition] against/with an opponent, governed by rules and conditions under which a winner is declared, and primary purpose of the competition is a comparison of the relative skills of the participants.” Because cheerleading follows these guidelines, it is a sport. ("Cheerleading Is a Sport"np). In cheerleading, many teams go to competitions to compete against a big variety of other teams in their divisions. This is the chance for cheerleaders to shine and perform like they never have before, just like any other sport. There is warm up time, then there's nothing like the adrenaline rush cheerleaders feel while executing each and every skill, and dance move. Any mistake that is made cannot be fixed at all because the judges are always watching, and there is no chance at all to get back the points that have been lost. Whether a team wins or loses, it really doesn’t matter because it is done together as a team, this shows another reason of being a sport because of the teamwork put into
