Greek mythical characters all have a role in the way of life and of course they would need a ruler. Cronus who was birthed as one of the titans birthed his very own. Zeus whom is one of the sons of Cronus happened to grow up as one of the best with the power of overthrowing his father for what he had done and after succeeding their father between his brothers he ended up becoming ruler of all the other gods.

Zeus was one of many children, someone else could have been put in Zeus' position. Zeus was often referred as "Father of Gods and men", mostly the sky god. As he had the power to control lighting and thunder. He is basically in charge of everything since he is as well the King of Mount Olympus. He pretty much rules the world with the ability to impose mortals and immortals. His roles were very important.

As Zeus being in a big position it was because he was one of a kind due to the stories of how his father was trying to devour him and his siblings. With the help of his mother, Rhea, he was the one that had survived. She was so devastated after losing most of her children and well with Zeus being the youngest she had no choice to hid the baby in a cave and fool Cronus with a blanket full of rocks. There does happen to be plenty of different stories of how he overthrew his father. I think that's what makes the significance and importance of this god more appealing. I think what's more important is how Zeus was able to go against his father and take full power from him since he brought more peace into the world. From my research Cronus wasn't really bad at all after trying to devour his children, he was just trying to prevent the prophecy.
