- Other colonies are going to look at the weaker colonies and look at them as something that they can eventually take over. English Killed anyone they didn’t like French took the approach of I can learn from you, you can teach me, I can trade with you, we can get along. The french in the north that is now canada had a very good relationship with the natives. The relationship between native americans, algonquins, and even the french is extremely close and very dependant. Because their relationship is different and hate french because they learned how to hunt with the natives, every time the French try to expand, get in fights with British. When the British try to expand they are across the west, they are interacting with the environment very similar to the natives. In New Orleans they set out one of the most important trading spots ever. They control the North and access into the inner US. The French and the English are always having issues. In the Mid 1700’s the french and the English get into King George's war. They basically are fighting over who gets control over North America, but they are fighting in Europe. At the end of the war, they sign an agreement but nothing is settled. The piece of the Land that triggers the war is Pittsburg, what used to be called the North West. Both the french and the British wanted to exploit the Pittsburg territory, the colonies wanted it because it allowed them to be self-sustaining. You’re about to have a war, french territories versus British territories. If you were a colonial how would you see this war as conflict? If you are colonial there are a few things that are going to happen: some people are looking at the coming war and they would be like “hold on a second, you are fighting a fight, so are you trying to take french territory or you are trying to annoy the french? What do we get out of it? Send soldiers, send money, pay colonials, and you fight. That was the King’s perspective- a defense of the colonies. If the colonials are correct and there’s a European war fought in the colonies, who should pay? - The two different points of view is getting them thinking who should pay and who shouldn’t. If you are Patriotic and your country is about to get into a war, you fight. One of the first to take a side. The colonials are fighting with the British, but the Iroquois say no to the colonials and yes to the british. They will only help if you promise to protect our land.If you promise to keep us safe we will help you. The British secure Iroquois support, by getting people to protect their land
. The British are starting to do stuff and the colonials are going to be like well “who’s side are you on?”. British troops are some of the best in the world, the reason why they’re so effective is because they go through very harsh training. Very strict rules, very strict punishment. Out military and the British military of that era was designed in a way where very strict rules were adhered too. British soldiers and officers were accustomed to very harsh training. The colonial army was anyone who was willing to fight, anyone who they could get their hands on. These people were not use to the military rule and traing type stuff. Most people became eligible to join the colonial army because they knew how to shoot a gun. Colonial soldiers aren’t use to the very tough British discipline, when officers show up and start ordering them around..how do you think they’re going to react? A british soldier would be like ‘yes sir” a colonial soldier would be like “In these shoes?” They were not use to the discipline of the British. British officers are going o perceive colonial soldiers as a joke. If that’s how a british officer was going to react to a colonial soldier, the colonials wanted their own officers in charge of the colonial soldiers. The british did not want to put an incompetent officer in charge of a unit. A colonial officer is going to try to keep his soldiers alive. The British don’t want the
