President John F Kennedy sent military guides to help the south Vietnamese army. The United states besieged milestones and urban communities in North Vietnam. The Americans thought they would win the war because they had modern weapons. They used firepower and bombs to prevent Communist aggression. The North Vietnamese drove an alternate war along with the vietcong. They were able to move faster, and used guerrilla tactics to surprise American troops. This surprised the Americans since they didn't know the position of the adversary. .
