[ How much does traveling actually teach someone? ] College students are willing to travel if they have the opportunity. Studies show that 85% of college students that want to travel don't, but the ones that do learn a lot more than just about government and world issues. When traveling [R1] one can learn about their self and [R2] different cultures.

One thing that travel can teach one is about themself. At the end of the journey Salak discovers that she doesn't want to live a MEDIOCRE life (Salak). This shows that if one travels then they can learn how boring and normal that person's life actually is. It can also teach about one's background. After her trip to Ecuador Machado made the realization that, "That month in Ecuador did more for my character, education, and sense of identity than any other experience in my early life." This knowledge can be good to help one get a job. Travel can help with jobs because "Employers crave graduates who are flexible, multilingual and comfortable in a multicultural setting"(Steves). If one travels as a student then they will have a better chance getting a job, do to flexibility with work settings. Sometimes it's a once in a lifetime opportunity.
