A subculture is defined as a cultural group within a larger culture, often having beliefs or interests at variance with those of the larger culture. White supremacists and “white nationalists” are a subculture, most prominent in the United States, but not limited to it. White supremacy has been a subculture for years and years but more recently has it become a more prominent and expanding group, much more open than they were just 10 years ago.

Some of their ideas and beliefs are that whites, or caucasians, are the superior race to all others. Though this is their highest held belief, they also have others. The white hoods are also a material culture. These hoods represent the KKK and usually have different patches on them describing what ranking they are in their individual groups. They also have rallies, where they all get together and talk about their views.
Some things that they don’t do is date/marry other races other than their own. Since they are trying to make the dominant race white, they only date and marry other white people to then have white babies and so on.

A material culture that is a very commonly known one is the hoods and robe like garments that members of the kkk wear. If you go onto any search engine and look up “KKK” it will pull up images of people wearing all white pointed hoods and long robes.

A symbol that they are now using today to represent white nationalism is the swastika. Originally used back during WW2 as a symbol of nazi’s, which is actually pretty similar to white supremacists today. Hitler believed the blonde haired, blue eyed, catholic/christians were the ‘aryan race’ and that jews interfered with the prospering of Germany, so he decided to initiate a mass genocide of all jews in Germany and the invaded areas before and during
