The gradient background, a transition from white to black, is extremely relevant to my theme. The initial colour, white, at the top of the page symbolizes an individual's purity. As an individual witnesses or experiences atrocities his purity, his absolute faith in a compassionate God, is tainted. The white begins to fade to black as shadows of doubt are cast over his faith. These shadows eventually progress, soon dominating what’s left of an individual's innocence as he experiences terrible atrocities. Eventually, an individual may no longer find it in himself to believe a loving God exists in such a cruel world. This loss of faith leaves an emptiness in an individual. Thus, the page ends in the colour black as it symbolizes this dark void, fabricated by an individual’s loss of faith. …show more content…
Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God? , and “I am told God loves me, and yet the reality of the darkness and coldness and emptiness is so great that nothing touches my soul”. The picture of Lucifer’s fall from heaven is surprisingly relevant to my theme. After seeing God’s mistreatment of mankind, Lucifer began to lose faith in the overall good of God. In protest, Lucifer rebelled against Him . If God wasn’t malevolent then why would He force an angel from grace to sulk below humanity, instead of helping them. The toppling blocks which spelled faith display a loss of faith when an individual’s natural balance is disturbed. The force or event which caused the blocks to fall can be viewed as a troubling experience because it shook an individual’s faith. The image of the broken cross reflects an individual whose faith has been shaken. The broken cross displays an individual’s loss of faith as a result of pain and suffering. Had he simply stopped believing in God, the cross would have been abandoned, left to gather dust. Broken, is how an individual feels after his faith in a compassionate God is lost after experiencing terrible atrocities.
